What Does Each Colour Of A Shag Band Mean

FastFriday

Ok, here's my work for this challenge.
The guidelines were:
- use only 3 of the primary and complementary colours (red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple)
- use fracture as technique
- quilt theme: winged things

I love fractured art (like cubist paints of franz marc), so I loved this challenge at first sight, but I've to admit that I've misunderstood the guide-line, due to a translation mistake. When I read "quilt theme" I've understood "the theme of quilting motif", and when I've realized that wasn't right, the design was yet done.
And I loved it so I went on with it. :)

My colour choice is yellow/purple/green... but then I've lost control and added also oranges and pink.
The design jumped in my mind when I've seen a photo of a bunch of flowers. That bunch really looks like a sitting cat. Silly isn't it?
So I've drawn an oval, and a stylized cat, made of circles, in it. Then I've added more circles, to close the lines of the cat contour.
Finally I've added 3 stright lines that would looks like sunbeams. I've taken these lines as a guide to place colours: light in center beam, the 2nd from top, medium tones in 1st and 3rd ray, and finally darker tones in the last ray.

size: 24"x16"
(you can click on image to enlarge)

When I realized the mistake I had already designed the quilt and I liked it a lot, so I continued on my way: p

How I chose colors green, yellow and purple but then I got take my hand and I put orange and pink (which I see more as shades of yellow and purple: p) The design
I jumped to mind looking at a picture of a bouquet of flowers that looked just like a cat sitting. Crowds he?
For the first model I drew an oval, then inside a stylized cat made of two circles and three corners, then I added all the other circles and curved to follow the contour lines of the cat.
Finally, I added three straight lines that should represent rays light, and I used as delimiters for areas with different color tones.
I put bright colors in the central medium in the two sides, and dark in the lower / right.

All

Writing Community Service Hours Letter Court

The DadoTrottola

After so much time I am finally going to introduce a new game DIY!!

many games need a nut ... and how many times we lose the dice game ??!!!

So here how to build a nut .... top! Of course with recycled materials.

Materiale occorrente:

  • una cannuccia;

  • un cartoncino (bianco o colorato a piacimento) con disegnato un esagono (per semplificare vi riporto qui sotto una figura con 3 esagoni che potete stampare e ritagliare);

  • un foglio (bianco o colorato);

  • colla (come sempre UHU liquida o pritt senza solventi);

  • forbici.

Procediamo quindi a ritagliare l'esagono and make a hole in the center with a bucatrice (the one to make the holes in the sheets for binders), cut a piece of straw in approximate length of 6 cm and a strip of paper about 2 cm x 5 cm.

decorate the hexagon depending on the game which will be used for the nut, if used to replace a nut 'm obviously will be the numbers 1 through 6.

then take the slip of paper, we apply a little glue and rolled on the straw in the center

Basta far girare la top and the side on which the firm is our score!

Potato Soup With Already Boiled Potatoes

41 Challenges on Fabric Printing - Print on fabric

Print on fabric can be useful to make decotations for wall hangings, or cards, ATC, labels ... Not everything will be washed often.

Supplies:
White fabric, like muslin
Freezer Paper
Soda Ash If You Want to pretreat

the fabric printed fabric can be very useful to do things which will not wash ... such as labels, or for tickets, or to decorate or make wall-hanging.
And it is to make a picture that I experienced this morning, the technique ... and I must say that I am satisfied so here's the tutorial

Material: Fabric
white, better texture, dense but not heavy. I used a canvas sheet.
Freezer Paper (FP) ... I have already explained that you can replace with the butcher paper.

Optional:
sodium carbonate (NOT baking soda, just soda. It is located at the supermarket as "Solvay soda 'or do we get from the pharmacist compliant)

First of all two words about printers. I've read a lot about in Several sites, and this is what Tournedos out:
- you've to use inkjet printers, laser
NOT - between InkJets Seems to be the best brand Epson, two to the composition of the ink.

First an explanation on ink and printers, are information from the network:
This technique only works with inkjet printers and not with the laser. The FP laser melt and you risk throwing everything. Furthermore, it seems that the ink of the laser is not good for this job.
include inkjet printers seem to work best for this are the Epson, for their mechanics, and for the ink composition. It seems that some HP
Vadan well but I did not understand why such depends on the ink cartridge.
I have an Epson so I am laid on the problem.

About persistency Seems That color print on presoaked fabric colors made more wash-resistant, But I prefer to use printed fabrics for non washable items.
Someone suggest to use a very light layer of spray paint in acrilyc fabric, it shouln't stiffen the fabric.

Then explain the persistence of color:
Here the question is tricky ... here I turned and turned over the network and the result is that printing on fabric is not pre-treated well but does not stand up to washing.
printing on fabric made pretreated adheres better and holds more than a gentle washing by hand.
the technique I use for things can not be cleaned and resolve the issue: p
Someone also recommended to give the press a very light spray of acrylic spray paint (such as fixatives, paints). The dash light would not help the color to fade if subjected to friction (for example, if the fabric was then used for a scholarship) but it should not stiffen the fabric.

And now two words about photos or pictures
Photos Have to be sharp and well contrasted. You can the contrast enhancement with a photo editing program.

Finally, two words about the images:
Images must be sharp and well contrasted, if you can increase a bit 'the contrast with a graphics program.
Of course we should not expect a vibrant, glossy, since the fabric is by its nature is opaque and you can not do anything. Now we begin

1: treat the fabric
Leave the fabric to soak in soda ash solution (2 tablespoon of soda in 1 liter warm water) for 30 minutes.
Squeeze and let dry.

Step 1: pre-treat the fabric

This phase of course only if you want to do it, otherwise skip over.
To pre-treat the fabric it is left to soak at least half an hour in a solution of sodium carbonate. Let's say two tablespoons to 1 liter of warm water. Wear gloves because the solution is very basic and could irritate the skin.
After that squeeze and hang to dry.

2: prepare the fabric sheet
Cut a piece of fabric and a piece of freezer paper Slightly larger than an A4 sheet.

Step 2: Prepare the paper

Cut a piece of freezer paper slightly larger than an A4 sheet (the one used in the printer)
Cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than an A4 sheet.

Now iron the fabric and then adhere it to the freezer paper (shiny side of the paper on the fabric). Use hot iron but not steam.
Now cut the fabric-paper at the size of an A4 sheet.

Now stretch the fabric so that it is flat, so I stretched over the freezer paper (plastic side against the fabric).
The iron must be hot but not too ... I imposed a little 'less than for cotton. And without steam
Once attached the freezer paper using a A4 page as a template and cut out the shape of the exact size.

3: borders
It's important to stiffen borders.
I use a paper tape to Reinforce the bottom edge (that is first taken from the printer) and the upper one, just in corners.

Step 3: The edges

It 'important to pay attention to the edges of the paper, is what is first taken from the printer, is the opposite. Van
strengthened to ensure that the printer takes the paper and does not bend well at the corners.
I use a piece of masking tape. I put it behind the sheet, making it stick out from the FP of half cm (1) then turn around on the fabric in half a cm more, mash well and trim the edges (2). I do the same on the top of the page, but only at the corners, is not everything.

4: print
Put the printer in only the fabric sheet.
Set The printer source as "matte paper" then print looking that the printer take the sheet well.
I've had no problems and the results was really nice!

My printer did not do a half turn, if it is taken and printed without stories, and the result surprised me ... here it is compared with the original photo (I have to say that the fabric is more clear picture of what is the real ... for sure next time I'll have more saturated colors ... but you know you should always try and try:

5: set the color printing
After you've to let the ink dry for Some hours, then you've printed fabric to gently wash the discharge to the soda- ash and the excess of ink.
tells Someone That Is Not Necessary to iron But I prefer to Set the print with iron before wash it.

Songs About Growing Up And Moving On

Tutorial: Applique with Freezer Paper Flowers

Here is a tutorial on how to use freezer paper to the wall ... how do I do it anyway.

The Freezer Paper is a plastic card for food on the one hand, that in America is used to freeze food. From them is like the foil by us, is at the supermarket.

with us does not exist in retail but you can replace with the butcher paper.
I say even with the wrapping paper reams of photocopy paper, but I have not tried it yourself.
In the following tutorial, I used butcher paper (to which I darkened the lettering): p and I made a simple application to us.

start (to imagine they are all clickable to enlarge):

1) Take a piece of "freezer paper" (hereafter FP), and observe it. you will notice that one side is paper, plastic and the other is polished. Draw the shape on the paper that interests you. While it has a shape that has a direction you have to reverse it. Once
silhouettes cut it.

2) Now take the stuff with which you want to make the application. On the back of the fabric put your shape cut out of FP, with the side plastic, shiny, against the back of the fabric. Stretch for a few seconds with a hot iron (I put it on cotton) and without steam.
Let cool then cut the excess fabric around the template leaving a border of half FP cm or so.

3) Now take the issue of small cuts in the corners "downstream" and stir with an iron rim against the FP well crushing the fold.

4) Now you take the fabric background and there is based on the outline application. you can tap into place, but I once again use the glue stick. Just a little on the edge of the fabric folded under. This form allows you to keep in place without slipping, it stiffens the fabric (because the glue still remains in the seam allowance) and the first wash leaves.

5) Now you sew. I took a wire to match the application, I put the needle and made a knot at the end of the wire. Step back from the front of the block and take the edge of applying well-being on the margin.
Back then in the background fabric at the same level of output where they are, I go on a bit and go back to straight again pinching the edge of the application. Continuous punticino
so very small for the entire board.

6) After the application has to come up with the FP. From the back of the application you enter only the tip of the scissors into the fabric of the background, and cut away a piece of cloth from behind the application. In practice, the application is back on sight. (There are those who only make a cut on the back, the application remains more ciccetta, it's just a matter of taste)

7) From the window without removing the FP. You must be a bit 'of attention to the edge that had stuck to the cloth, but it's easy ^ _ * If you can pull out the whole figure you can use it again ^ _ ^

At this point the 're done, you have your application ^ _ ^

Tennis Vacations For Singles

Ugly

months ago I joined a mailing list to challenge patchwork. This list is given a challenge each month, and the aim is to respond with a miniquilt. This month the challenge we
40 and the theme is packaging.
The aim was to take a box of a product, study the colors, to understand why those colors are chosen, with those colors and make a quilt with a still life.

I chose as the starting pack a bottle of "Milk Honey Nidra"
E 'white, probably chosen to give an idea of \u200b\u200bcleanliness and purity. Nidra has written in pink on white background that draws the eye but not much from the idea of \u200b\u200b"danger" of the color red. Then there is a drop drawn
yellow / orange, reminiscent of the gel inside, which has the same color, and is the color that one might imagine when you think of milk and honey.
Finally there are the entries made in blue, beautiful clear ma meno funereo del nero, ed il logo della palmolive in verde, che mantiene il colore del logo originario.

Some months ago I joined in the Fast Friday Fabric Quilt challenge mailing list.
Here is my quilt for the challenge 40. The challenge was to choose a product packaging and to study the colours and why they are used.
Then use those colours to do a still life quilt.
My inspiration came from the "nidra latte miele" (nidra milk honey) bath gel bottle.
The bottle is all white, I think because it want to give the idea of clean, purity and a product that doesn't set upon the skin. Then there is the "nivea" word in dark pink. I think that the pink is as
readable as the red, on white background, but don't give the "attention" or "danger" message that the red would give. Again the pink may be more attractive for women. There is a yellow/orange drop. The colour is really close to the colour of the gel and wants to refer to the idea of the colour of honey mixed with milk.
The "palmolive" logo is white and green. This is because the storic logo is green, I don't think there is a specific purpose, is just something that "have to be". Finally other words are in blue. The blue is very clear readable on white, but is not as "funereal" as black.

I've done a little quilt (8x9") with two flowers. I wanted to try what happens reversing the predominance of the colours. The bottle has a lot of white, so I've decided to use very little of it, just for binding and beads, using more the colours that are less used in the bottle: blue, pink, yellow and green.
I've tried to use watersoluble pencils on silk, but I hadn't soy to do the soy milk, so I've tried soaking the silk in a soda solution. It didn't help for colour spreading, but I hope it will help for colour resistance. I've quilted and tried a sort of thread painting (my first time)
Well, this is the first time I do something different from "take the design - follow instructions", this time I've "Just done it."
I'd like to hear comments, suggestions and constructive critics.

How Much Would It Cost To Build A Go Kart

Happy Endings

Today I want to recommend a book.
I saw it reviewed on a blog, and you know when you have a love at first sight? Here I saw the cover and I said to myself "must be mine!" But

gave himself that I do not like things easy, of course the book is in English (and this is the minimum) and available only via the internet from abroad (not much then we are surprised not?)
So it was that in the middle I ordered this book on Amazon in December, And while I was there I took another kindred, to whom I can not say anything yet because he has to go.

The book arrived today instead is "Happy Endings" by Mimi Dietrich

E 'cost $ 19 (+ 6 shipping) and is a 75-page booklet that is in my opinion far more than the price for those who like me is concerned for the quilt.
The argument of the book are the much loved / hated / notorious edges, and in the book explains how to get them from A to Z. From basic techniques such as close up the quilt "pillow" as it prepares a bias, as beads with the binding, more specific techniques, such as shaped edges, or with the included cords or edges with frills.
Everything is explained clearly in the texts (of course you have to know English) and from images that are very well done and informative.

So, in my opinion, a gem of a book:) Me happy

* _ * Needless to say, I can not wait to try some new edge.

Today I'd like to recommend a book.

I read a review on a blog, and when i saw the cover I Said "it Have to be mine!"

The topic of the book is the much loved / hated / infamous edges, and it explains how to do them from A to Z. From basic techniques such as pillow-turned quilts or cut and sew a bias, to the more technical details such as scalloped and design edges, or edges with cords or ruffles.
Everything is clearly explained by the texts (of course you must know English) and from images that are very well done and informative.

Well, in my opinion, a gem of a book:)

I'm happy *_* Needless to say I can not wait to try some new binding techniques.
